Use Google Wonder Wheel To Choose Your Primary Categories

We have been talking about silo structuring as a vital part of SEO and choosing the right categories is one step of the process.

To get the most relevant categories for your website, we will be using Google Wonder Wheel.  Few individuals know this powerful tool exists and the beauty of it is it's Google's own.

To use the Google Wonder Wheel, follow these steps.

Note:  If you are using the new Google search setting which is the Google Instant, please turn it off first.  You cannot see the Wonder Wheel if GI is on.

Step 1- Perform a Google search of your primary keyword.

Step 2 - Click "More Tools", scroll down and click "Wonder Wheel".

Step 3 - Clicking on the Wonder Wheel, an image with a sun-shaped group of keywords and phrases related to your original search will appear.  "Blogging Tips" is the main phrase and surrounding this key phrase are all the related keywords which you can pick as your categories.  What is displayed now in your screen is the Google Wonder Wheel at the center and the search results at right.

If you click any of the relevant phrases surrounding the primary keyword you searched - in this example we clicked "Wordpress Tips" another wheel will pop out and a new set of related keywords and phrases will appear-all related to your original search which is "Blogging Tips".  As a new wheel appears, the search results displayed on the right side will also change.
