You probably had just launched your new online business or your blog and you knew little, almost confused on how to start your Search Engine Optimization strategy. What, with the many terms the SEO gurus use like SERP (Search Engine Results Page), LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing) and KEI (Keyword Efficiency Index) you will literally blow your mind. But SEO should not be that hard and even if you are a complete beginner, this post will give you a clear view where to start and how to start it right.
Read below the 5 important steps to promote your business and get ranked by the search engines.
1. Choose your keywords carefully. Even with the advent of Google Instant just few weeks ago where Google search results has now become personalized, choosing the right keywords, short and long tail, is still a vital aspect on how your business will show up in search results.
- Your keywords should be directly related to your niche. If your business is about clothes, your keywords should be related to clothes.
- Choose keywords that are frequently used by people when they search
- The competition for particular keywords is not tough which means only few are optimizing for that keyword and you have a good change of fight
- If your purpose is to get leads that will eventually turn to sales, choose keywords with high commercial intent.
2. Optimize Your Contents. Content is king. Even if you do have the killer keywords and phrases if you don't know how to use them in your articles and posts then your keywords will go to waste and you will never see yourself in the ranks. Optimizing your content is also called onpage optimization. There should be a right way to organize your contents using your related keywords. When the search engines start to look at your web pages and see that they are related to your keywords then these SEs will more than be happy to send you visitors.
3. Get High Authority Quality Backlinks. Most people make mistakes in their backlinking strategy by leaving links wherever they can. As a virtual contractor, I have had worked in several backlinking projects where my clients use packets of high PR sites that they bought online. They will ask me to create profiles for them in all the sites in the list. Needless to say, their strategy is all wrong. Why? Because not all the sites are related to their niche. And you know what happened next.
4. Exchange Links. I personally do not believe that linking should always be one way. My previous experience in my personal blog proved that most people would be happy to give you a link if you reciprocate. Reciprocal links often last.
5. Always Monitor Your Search Engine Rankings. Finally, you will not see your strong and weak points in your SEO strategy if you do not adhere to regularly check how you fare. This way, you will recognize which task is working for you and which ones are needed to be improved.
Hopefully this was helpful to you. Please get your free report on backlinking strategies that few people know.
